Apples come in so many varieties that I can spend hours perusing, touching, and squeezing them (I like them firm and crispy); smelling them, and just taking in the pretty colors. I even like their names. Golden delicious, I mean, come on. Red delicious, makes my mouth wish for all of that deliciousness. Fuji, sounds exotic. Pink Lady, now that just makes a funny picture in my mind. Gala sounds like a party for my taste buds. Jazz, well that one is just cool! What are your favorite apple names and flavors? The apple is actually one of the most nutritious of all the fruits, and luckily, most people love them. All of the wonders of nature, packed into smart, colorful little packages! Consuming them might take just a little bit of planning, but the recipes can be so easy – from just opening up and biting into one, to some simple recipe ideas.  5 Easy Ways to Eat Your “Apple-a-Day”

1 My favorite is to slice them and add a little peanut butter. That makes a great snack that I can grab on the go, and the peanut butter adds one of my favorite flavors, plus a nice pop of protein! The peanut butter also provides you with a healthy fat and the apple is a wonder for your body.

2 Chop them into small pieces and add them to your morning bowl of oats, adding in any extras, like walnuts or almonds, or even fresh blueberries and strawberries, and boom!  You have a miraculously healthy and energy boosting breakfast in a flash! Add an egg, and this is one meal that will stick to your ribs while providing a great dose of fiber, antioxidants, healthy fats, protein, and many vitamins and minerals. See how easy it is to indulge in a healthy meal without sacrificing great taste and satisfaction?

3 Make a simple chicken salad by shredding your cooked chicken breast, adding chopped apples and greek yogurt. Season with salt and pepper and eat on a bed of greens, or with your favorite healthy bread or crackers. I love to eat mine with carrots and celery sticks. The more often you can add to your meal with greens, fruits, or veggies, the easier it is to get all of the nutrients your body craves.The amazing apple nutrition really boosts the power of your favorite chicken salad and the natural sweetness satisfies that sugar craving without any side effects!

4 Slice them thinly and place them in a skillet with some pure, unrefined, virgin coconut oil. Add a little cinnamon, and cook over medium heat, making sure to cook both side to desired texture. Add in some slivered almonds, and you have a healthy treat! The apple has enough fiber and water that it will be slowly absorbed into your blood stream, preventing your blood sugar from spiking; and the cinnamon is a powerhouse in itself, including stabilizing blood sugar. Add in the protein from the almonds, and you can even add a little dollop of your favorite topping :)

5 Make a delicious and nutritious fruit salad by chopping apples, and adding any of your other favorite fruits. This makes a wonderful dessert or side dish for any meal and is easy to take to a party!
