Want to look like a cute kitty on Halloween? Cat makeup is a must for any kitten-inspired costume. It’s super great for a last minute costume, because cat makeup is pretty easy to pull off when you decide that you WILL go to that Halloween party after all! You know what I’m talking about! We’ve all been there, when an hour before party time your friends are all getting beautifully dolled up in their well-planned costumes, and you realize you are about to miss out on the fun! The only problem is, the extravaganza starts in an hour. An hour? What girl can be ready for a party in an hour?! You haven’t had a chance to even think about your costume! Because you weren’t going, right?? 😉 Fear not, this tutorial will have you all catted up and out the door in a snap. Why do you think there is always at least one cat at every costume party? Because it’s simple, quick, and you most likely have what you need in your own closet and makeup bag already! In fact, with these quick and easy cat makeup tips, you wont even have to sweat it. You will be the cat’s meow! (Sorry! I couldn’t resist that one. 🙂 ) So let’s cut the gab and get this party started, cat style!!

The great thing about cat makeup is that you probably have everything you need even if your make up collection is small and simple.

Start by creating a perfect dewy skin foundation.

Cats don’t have blemishes or an uneven skin tone, so you want to make sure your fierce feline look starts with a flawless canvas!

You will need a primer and a great foundation or BB cream and a good concealer. Apply your foundation as usual. If you feel really pressed for time, you can simply apply concealer where needed and follow with your favorite finishing powder.

If you are not sure you know how to apply your foundation, let Kandee take you step by step here! She is always flawless and this would create a perfect canvas for any beautiful cat face.

Apply a primer to your eyelids.

Apply gently, using a sponge or your ring finger. You will want to smooth the primer over your entire lid, from lash line to eyebrow, covering every area that will be touch with your make up. Be sure to always be extra gentle with the skin around your eyes, because it is thin and delicate. We certainly don’t want to make ourselves start showing age any faster than we have to!

Apply your favorite light neutral color all over the lid.

This will create a nice clean background to show off your amazing cat eyes!

Now apply your eyeliner to create the perfect cat eye.

This will be the key to your cat makeup look, so if you are going to spend extra time on anything, this would be the place to do it. After all, the first thing you notice about a cat is its stunning eyes.

For dramatic purposes, you may want to add a liquid eyeliner, or a gel liner in your favorite deep color and top with a black eye shadow for staying power. You don’t want your cat eyes running down your face by the end of the party!

It’s time to make a cute little heart shaped nose. <3

I love this sweet and simple look!

Take your flat angled brush and dip it in your gel liner (or you swap out for a waterproof pencil liner if you would rather!).  Whatever you have on hand that will cover well and stay on throughout your feline dramatics.

Draw a sweet little heart starting at the tip of your nose, tracing around the nostrils in whatever shape appeals to your catlike instincts. Color inside the lines, and then shape a pretty little point at the base of your nostrils, ending with a thin line extending between the bow of your upper lip.

Outline your lips with the black liner, or a black lip pencil.

Extend the line a tiny bit past the edge of your lips in an upward curve, creating a

definite cat smirk that will last all night.

Apply your favorite red or pink lipstick to create a luscious pout.

What cat lover doesn’t know that cats enjoy giving you a pouty look to get you to jump through hoops!

Create a few adorable cat freckles.

Start at the point of your upper lip and create a symmetrical dotted triangle like in the picture above. It’s easy and really adds to the cat make up look you are going for! I love things that look hard, but are actually so simple! Try to make both sides as even as possible, but don’t worry too much, because no one is perfectly symmetrical on both  sides of the face. Our imperfections add to our beauty, so just have fun with this step!

Everyone knows that Whiskers is a favorite cat name, so be sure to use your liner to draw some on!

Extend them from the freckles in any cute way you like. Just be your own person! Or should I say cat?

Take your fluffy brush and finish it all off with your favorite powder, and you will be ready dance the night away!

Don’t forget, you look fabulous, so forget about that stuff and go be your amazing self!

Have fun!

Suzanne
